    Description

Damn It Janet is a distinctive 58ft 10” all-steel Dutch barge-style narrowboat, built in 2011 by Iguana Boats. Designed with both comfort and practicality in mind, she offers an exceptional live-aboard or long-term cruising experience for two people. Her elegant lines, spacious interior layout, and rare Dutch barge wheelhouse set her apart from typical narrowboats, making her a truly characterful vessel on the water.

One of her most striking features is the spacious fold-down mahogany wheelhouse, which transforms into a bright and sociable conservatory-style living space when not in use. This versatile area provides additional seating and creates a seamless connection between the interior and the waterways outside, perfect for relaxing while moored or cruising through scenic canals.

The galley is beautifully finished with quality oak cabinetry and marble worktops, combining style with everyday functionality. It is fully equipped with a double gas oven and hob, fridge-freezer, double sink, microwave, and extensive storage including cupboards, spice rack, and space for crockery and utensils. Thoughtfully designed, it provides everything needed for comfortable onboard cooking, whether for short trips or extended stays.

The open-plan saloon offers a generous 16’6” of living space, finished with carpeting and enhanced by a “Houdini hatch” skylight and transparent ventilators that flood the area with natural light. Heating is provided by a Morso squirrel stove set within a marble surround, creating a warm and inviting focal point, complemented by fireside accessories. The saloon also includes a bespoke sofa bed with integrated storage, a large reading chair with footstool, a fold-up dining table, and practical additions such as a plumbed-in washing machine and MeacoDry Arete dehumidifier and air purifier for year-round comfort.

The bedroom spans the full width of the boat, offering a rare sense of space and tranquillity. It features a substantial 6’3” x 4’6” double bed, two fitted wardrobes, drawers, and extensive under-bed storage, ensuring excellent storage solutions for extended cruising. Half-height double doors open onto the bow, with both inner glazed and outer timber doors, alongside portholes fitted with bungs for added insulation and privacy.

The bathroom is a full-width tiled shower room, recently updated with a new shower installation. It includes a macerator pump-out toilet, sink, and under-sink storage cupboard, providing a clean, modern, and highly functional wash space.

Layout-wise, the boat flows from stern to bow as follows: wheelhouse, engine room, galley, lounge, bathroom, and bedroom. This logical and spacious arrangement enhances onboard living and ensures excellent separation between living, sleeping, and utility areas.

With her thoughtful design, generous proportions, and high-quality finishes throughout, Damn It Janet is an outstanding example of a live-aboard Dutch barge-style narrowboat, perfectly suited for comfortable cruising or full-time life on the waterways.
