    Description

Nimrod VII is a charming 51ft cruiser stern narrowboat that perfectly blends classic craftsmanship with thoughtful modern upgrades. Built in 1986 by respected boatbuilder Hancock & Lane and powered by a dependable BMC 1.5 engine, she offers a warm and characterful interior ideally suited to comfortable cruising or life afloat. With an internal cabin height of 6ft 2in and a well-planned stern-to-bow layout of kitchen, lounge, bathroom and bedroom, Nimrod feels both practical and inviting from the moment you step aboard.

The fully fitted galley is both functional and full of personality, featuring reclaimed maple wooden worktops and a butler-style stainless steel sink. Cooking onboard is made easy with a full-sized LPG oven – a Kenwood KS100G installed new in June 2020 – alongside a four-burner gas-on-glass hob by ElectriQ. An instant gas water heater ensures hot water on demand, while additional workspace is provided by a freestanding butcher-block style unit and a 240v fridge positioned opposite. The galley flows naturally into the cosy saloon, where built-in bench seating offers useful storage beneath. A newly installed multi-fuel stove (2024), set on a hearth tiled with reclaimed Victorian tiles, creates a welcoming focal point and ensures warmth throughout the cooler months.

The bathroom is well proportioned and thoughtfully arranged, offering a good-sized shower with curtain, a sink with shelving and mirror above, storage below, and a compost toilet. Moving forward, the bedroom makes clever use of the bow space, which has been incorporated into the cabin to create a more spacious and practical sleeping area. A full-size double bed sits above the water tank, with clothes hanging space and shelving providing ample storage for extended stays onboard.

Nimrod VII has benefitted from significant recent upgrades, including new batteries fitted in 2024 (one starter and three leisure), a 400W inverter, solar power, a battery charger and two 13kg gas cylinders, supporting comfortable off-grid cruising. She has a generous 900-litre water capacity from a D-shaped tank fitted in 2019, along with a 200-litre fuel tank complete with a welded lock on the diesel cap for added security. With a Boat Safety Certificate valid until June 2028 and a survey completed in September 2021, Nimrod VII presents a wonderful opportunity to own a character-filled narrowboat ready for her next adventure.
